Somerton residents receive letters from Rural Metro on emergency services.

For Immediate Release: Residents living in the City limits of Somerton have been receiving letters from Rural Metro Fire Department advising them that their property is not currently protected with fire department services.
Residents living in the City limits of Somerton have been receiving letters that state: “The taxes you pay for your property do not provide fire department services. Your fire department and emergency medical services are provided by rural metro fire department.” This is false!!

If you live inside the city limits of Somerton your property taxes do pay for fire protection by the Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department. The Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department also provides Paramedic Ambulance Services and transportation to YRMC. If you receive a letter please do not return it with a payment.

The SCFD has an ISO rating of 4 in the city limits of Somerton; please check with your insurance provider to see if you can save money on your home owners insurance.
